C.A.R. (Choosing Acronyms Randomly) is the musical project of Chloé Raunet, a Canadian-born, London-based artist known for her icy synths, warm vocals, and left-field pop sensibility. Drawing from post-punk, electro, and experimental songwriting, she creates music that's both emotionally charged and sonically adventurous.

Dance at Oscar’s has been a long time coming. Inspired by RV parks, rundown motels, rotting boardwalks, and the absurdity of modern life, the album was written and refined over two years. Walking the line between wonk and precision, pop and experimentation, it marks a bold return to the dancefloor — full of mischief, movement, and machine-led emotion.

The backstory…
After a pandemic-induced break to focus on her debut documentary, Chloé — burned out, disillusioned, and convinced she had nothing left to say — was ready to turn her back on the project. But with two festival dates carried over from the Before Times, she invited longtime friend Joni Green to join her onstage. What was meant to be a final farewell sparked something unexpected: a renewed energy, a sense of fun, and the powerful dynamic of two middle-aged women refusing to play by the rules.

In this new chapter, Joni’s presence has been instrumental. A hype woman, motivator, and rallying force for a frontwoman who’d otherwise rather hide in the shadows, she encouraged Chloé to write new songs, and together they built something greater than the sum of its parts.
The final piece of the puzzle came in the form of producer Nathan Ridley. Through late-night sessions at Hermitage Studios and a shared love of gear, his passion and innate ability to interpret Chloé’s intent pushed the sound into vivid, unexpected territory. Final mixes came via renowned producer and engineer Margo Broom, who gave the record its razor-sharp clarity and cohesion.
